    Description

This display box was created by a student during 1957 and 1958 for the Baltimore Science Fair. The box is in excellent condition and measures 16” x 12” x 2". The box is heavy, solid pressed cardboard with well-fitting plexiglass lid. There is minor discoloration, or age spots inside the box which can be seen in photos.
    This box
    contains 21 butterflies:
Monarch, Mourning Cloak, Variegated Fritillary Euptoieta Claudia, Comma Polygonia, American Painted Lady Vanessa, Buckeye Precis Coenia, Red Admiral Vanessa, Baltimore Eurphypryas Phaeton, Silvery Checkerspot, Pearl Crescent, Great Spangled Firtillary, Red Spotted Purple Limenitis, Lesser Spangled Fritillary Speyeria
Most of the butterflies have neatly handwritten labels with the type of butterfly, where it was found, and the date it was found. Locations include Maryland counties of Baltimore, Frederick, and Carroll, and Gambrill, Maryland.
The box comes with an original Certificate of Participation from the 1957
Baltimore Science Fair, which has original signatures from the President of the Johns Hopkins University and the Kiwanis Club or North Baltimore. The certificate is in excellent condition.
Note, I cannot guarantee the accuracy of butterfly identification; I am selling the set as-is, as found.
