ORIGINAL 1920s TRADE - ADVERTISING CARD
COSSACKS  HORSE RACING
The Cossacks are amongst the most famous
horsemen of the world. They are soldier husband-
men, and horse and cattle breeders. They learn to
ride from their earliest youth.
Whether they come from the Kouban, the Don,
the Armour, the Caucasus or the Terek they are
pure Russians, devoutly Christian and staunchly
Royalist. They formed the bulk of the cavalry in
the Imperial army and enjoyed many privileges in
return for their military service.
Their horses, which are remarkable for stamina
and steadiness, are derived from Kurdish and
Caucasian breeds crossed with Arabian mares
introduced by Tamer Lane.
