1930s TRADE - ADVERTISING CARD
APPRENTICES
Many trainers have a number
of boys in their stables as jockey
apprentices. The period of
apprenticeship is three years or
more, and during this time the
boys can claim a 5-Lb. allowance
in all races up to 500 Pounds in
value under Jockey Club Rules. The
allowance can not be claimed
after the apprentice has ridden
forty winners. The jockey
Club encourages apprentice-
ship, and every racecourse has
to hold one race for apprentice
riders only during the season.
