We are working as partners in conjunction with Gettysburg Relics to offer some very nice American Civil War relics for sale. The owner of Gettysburg Relics was the proprietor of Artifact at 777 on Cemetery Hill in Gettysburg for a number of years, and we are now selling exclusively on eBay.THE BATTLE OF GETTYSBURG, PENNSYLVANIA
- FROM THE FAMOUS ROSENSTEEL FAMILY COLLECTION - NOTED AS HAVING BEEN ORIGINALLY FOUND BY JOHN CULLISON FROM 1930-1960 - A very nice fired high-impact (or high velocity) lead .69 caliber musket ball that has very distinct impact marks and striations, primarily on one side where impact was made. This artifact was once part of the famous Rosensteel Collection of Gettysburg. This artifact was in a group of relics that were identified as having been found by John Cullison and was later acquired by the Rosensteel family.
John Cullison hunted between the 1930s and about 1960. His early finds were all "eyeballed" and later he started using a detector (in the 1950's, I believe). This fired musket ball,
was once part of the famous Rosensteel Collection of Gettysburg. It was in a group of relics in this collection, that were identified as having been found by John Cullison. The relics were acquired directly from the collection in the mid-1990s by The Horse Soldier of Gettysburg and were, afterwards in a private collection for many years.
A letter of provenance will be included.
All of the collections that we are offering for sale are guaranteed to be authentic, and are either older recoveries, found before the 1960s when it was still legal to metal detect battlefields, or were recovered on private property with permission. Some land on Battlefields that is now Federally owned, or owned by the Trust, was acquired after the items were recovered. We will not sell any items that were recovered illegally, nor will we sell any items that we suspect were recovered illegally.
