    Hello, you are bidding on a Rare Civil War Dropped Spencer Carbine Bullet.  This bullet is in dropped (non-fired) condition.  The brass cartridge has long since rotted away.  I just picked up a small group of these from Chattanooga, Tennessee.  The Spencer Rifle was a favorite of the Union Cavalry due to it's light weight and ability to fire multiple bullets without reloading.  There was a large contingency of Union Cavalry encircling Chattanooga during the Civil War.  Please see my other auctions for more great bullets dug in the same area.
