THE BATTLE OF CEDAR MOUNTAIN, VIRGINIA - THE WILLIAM REGER COLLECTION - Found in September 1974 - A Fired .58 Caliber 3-Ring Rifle Bullet
This Fired 3-Ring Bullet, was found by William Reger in September of 1974 at the Cedar Mountain Battlefield in Virginia
    .
This relic was in a large Berks County, Pennsylvania collection of carefully identified relics that were recovered in the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s.
Reger included his own type-writer typed tags with the relic groupings. In this case, the tag is not included, as it was the only tag for the entire group, however, a copy of the tag, as well as a provenance letter, will be included.
Cedar Mountain, which was fought on August 9, 1862 during the Second Manassas Campaign was a fierce fight involving Stonewall Jackson's Corps. The total numbers involved were relatively small (8000 Union soldiers and almost 17,000 Confederate soldiers), but casualties were comparatively high (3,700 combined).
